4. James Cook has sailed the world twice and was the first European to reach Hawaii and New Zealand.
5. He was the first European to know about kiwis, kangaroos, koalas, wallabies and penguins.

The Yangzhou Massacre that occurred in Yangzhou, China of 1645 CE is probably one of the bloodiest massacres in human history with up to 800,000 deaths. The Qing troops of the Qing Dynasty slaughtered residents of Yangzhou within 10 days as punishment for resistance.

Galunggong is a historic fish in the Philippines and is eaten in many ways. It used to be one of the cheapest and most consumed fish in the Philippines. It is also the most common fish species used by Filipinos in making “tinapa”, a kind of smoked fish which is very popular in the entire archipelago.

Galunggong or GG is perhaps the most popular fish in the Philippines. It is one of the most abundant fish in the ocean. Being an archipelago, it is one of the basic foods eaten by majority of Filipinos. It was once tag as the national fish of the Philippine during the presidency of Corazon Aquino where she campaigned during the 1986 Snap Elections to make it the cheapest fish available to all Filipinos but she never achieve such promised and in fact it became one of the most expensive common fish in the archipelago.

During the elections, the fish is worth P16 pesos per kilo which used to be P5 pesos only. But during the presidency of Aquino, the price of galunggong soared high to P80 pesos and has never gone down since then.

Sweet and Sour Fish Ball

Although it is not the best fish species for sweet and sour fish ball, galunggong can be prepared also in such a way. The meat of the fish are ground or chopped finely and mix with ingredients such as finely chopped garlic, onion and carrots, salt, seasoning and flour. After mixing well, they are shaped into little balls and boiled or simmer in a pot with flour, finely chopped red bell pepper and seasoned with salt, sugar, vinegar, catsup and paminta (black pepper).

Ludwig van Beethoven is regarded as one of the greatest musicians of all time. Here are some little known facts about this impressive and spectacular musician.

1.) Ludwig van Beethoven was born in Bonn, Germany in 1770.
2.) This German composer is considered one of the greatest musicians of all time.
3.) His childhood and adolescence were difficult due to his father’s harsh discipline and alcoholism.
4.) Beethoven’s mother died when he was 18 years of age and became the head of the family, taking responsibility for his two younger brothers.
5.) When he moved to Vienna, Austria, his two younger brothers followed him.

6.) In Bonn, Beethoven studied with Christian Gottlob Neefe who used the music of German composer Johann Sebastian Bach as a cornerstone of instruction.
7.) He also studied briefly with Austrian composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
8.) In 1792, he made another journey to Vienna and studied with Austrian composer Joseph Haydn.
9.) Beethoven stayed in Vienna from 1792 and for the rest of his life.
10.) Early in the 1800s, Beethoven’s sense of hearing started to decline and gradually put an end to his performing career.
11.) However, Beethoven’s compositional achievements did not suffer from his hearing loss but instead gained in richness and power over the years.
