Panglao is one of the many beautiful island paradises in the Philippines. It is located in the Central Visayas region and has an area of 80.5 km².  Panglao is part of the province of Bohol, where the impressive Chocolate Hills are located

This beautiful island can be reach via Panglao Island International Airport soon. The island is being fully developed as an alternative tourist destination for the more popular and world-class Boracay Island.

Here are some of the most notable tourist attractions of the island of Panglao.

Alona Beach

Alona Beach is a captivating beach resort in the municipality of Panglao Bohol. The island is one of of the top tourist destinations in the Philippines and is well-known for its beautiful dive spots and its coral reef. There are also numerous islets ideal for beach bathing like the islets of Gak-ang and Pontod.

Tours can be organized at the pristine Alona Beach. The dive sites that can be found on the northwest tip of the Panglao Island are Doljo Beach, Napaling and Puntod. These sites are deep and the currents are strong.

The island of Panglao is composed of two municipalities – Panglao and Dauis. Dauis' major tourist attractions are Our Lady of Assumption Church and Hinagdanan Falls. Dauis Church, which was built during the Spanish Era is locally known as Señora de la Asunción.

The secluded beach of Maira-Ira Point known as the Blue Lagoon is accessible via a secondary concrete road on the north side of the National Highway or famously known as Maharlika Highway.

The coast of the town is lined with coconut trees and on a clear day, Babuyan Islands can be seen from Patapat National Park. The town is also famous for its unique and long bridge – the Patapat Viaduct which is elevated 31 meters above sea level. This 1.3 km long concrete coastal bridge, which is the 5^th longest bridge in the Philippines, connects the Maharlika Highway from Laoag City to the Cagayan Valley Region.

Here are 50 interesting facts about a man referred to "as the Sublime Paralytic" in Philippine history.

Apolinario Mabini is one of the most prominent figures in Philippine History. He is known in the pages of Philippine History books as “The Sublime Paralytic” and the “Brains of the Revolution”.  Mabini had proven that poverty is not a hindrance to education and if there’s a will, there’s a way.

1.) His complete name is Apolinario Marana Mabini and was nicknamed Poly.

2.) He was born on July 23, 1864 in Barangay Talaga in the town of Tanauan, Batangas.

3.) This great Filipino political philosopher and a revolutionary died at the very young age of 38.

4.) He is known for writing a constitutional plan for the First Philippine Republic of 1899-1901.

5.) To Mabini’s enemies and detractors he is referred to as the “Dark Chamber of the President”.

6.) Mabini was the 2^nd of 8 children of Dionisia Maranan and Inocencio Mabini. Her mother was a vendor in the Tanauan market and his father is an unlettered peasant.

7.) His maternal grandfather was the village teacher from whom he began his informal studies.

8.) Because of Mabini’s exceptional display of intelligence he was transferred to a regular school where he worked as a houseboy to the owner of the school.

9.) Mabini also took odd jobs from a local tailor in exchange for free board and lodging.

10.) He later transferred to the school conducted by the famous educator Fray Valerio Malabanan.

The Philippines, being an archipelago, is a seafood-rich country. And we, the Filipino people, are very grateful for that. Foods that are rich in iron and iodine need not to be expensive. Try some of my personal recipes.

Squid Adobo

In order to make this recipe looks good you must learn how to clean and cut squids. The preparation and cooking of SQUID ADOBO is very simple and easy.


Cut squid into pieces, wash and drain.
In a fan, sautee garlic, onion and ginger then add squid.
Spice it up with soy sauce, vinegar, oyster sauce, msg, and laurel leaf. 
If you want it spicy simply add chopped pepper (siling labuyo).

Chicken Liver and Gizzard with Beans

Liver are iron rich source of food. In cooking this recipe, you'll be needing, chicken liver and gizzard and some spices.


Sautee garlic, onion and ginger (optional) then add cut liver and gizzard.


Mix it from time to time and wait till all water evaporated. 


Spice it up with soy sauce, msg, black pepper and bay leaf then add the beans.

Shellfish with Green Leafy

This is very simple and easy to cook recipe...and of course, a very healthy food.


Sautee ginger, garlic, onion and tomato. Add 1 cup water and let boil.


Add fish sauce or salt to taste then add msg.


Add Shellfish or locally known in the Philippines as "Tahong".


Mix for few minutes and add Moringa leaves (Malunggay).
