is one of the holiest cities to Buddhism. The Mahabodhi Temple
, which is located in the city, is believed to be the tree under which the Buddha attained enlightenment. This historic temple is the world’s number one pilgrimage site of Buddhism. The city is also sacred to Hinduism.
